Congress declaring Sheila Dikshit as its Uttar Pradesh chief ministerial candidate indicates that BJP won't act against her over corruption cases in Delhi, Water Minister Kapil Mishra claimed today, and asserted that the veteran leader has to go to "jail".

Senior AAP leader Ashutosh mocked the decision saying it was "reflective" of Congress' "commitment" to fight against corruption.

AAP has been demanding action against Dikshit alleging her involvement in a number of irregularities during her tenure as Delhi Chief Minister.

Mishra said that Dikshit became "politically active" the day the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) fact-finding committee report in the alleged wanter tanker scam was sent to the LG-appointed Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) chief MK Meena.

"The Congress got its confidence from the day the report was sent to the ACB. Until then it was not sure of the kind of action AAP was considering. The moment ACB came into the picture it became sure of no action against her," Mishra said.

The ACB today sent a notice to Dikshit asking her to join the investigation in connection with the alleged Rs 400-crore water tanker scam on August 26. Dikshit called the allegation "politically motivated".

Mishra said it was merely a "delay tactic" on the probe agency's part. "Today or tomorrow, she will have to go to jail," he tweeted.
