Copper, nickel ease on global cues

Prices of copper and nickel fell up to Rs 5 per kg at the non-ferrous metal market today amid a weak global trend.

Traders said sentiment turned bearish after copper and all other base metals declined in global markets as investors await housing data from the US, the world's second-biggest consumer.

Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months was 1.1 per cent lower at USD 6,311 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, copper mixed scrap and nickel plate (4x4) were down by Rs 2 and Rs 5 to Rs 400 and Rs 1,026-1,031 per kg.
 

Following are today's metal rates (in Rs per kg):

Zinc ingot Rs 109-115, Nickel plate (4x4) Rs 1,026-1,031, Gun metal scrap Rs 227, Bell metal scrap Rs 229, Copper mixed scrap Rs 400, Chadri deshi Rs 285.

Lead ingot Rs 100, Lead imported Rs 101, Aluminium ingots Rs 154, Aluminium sheet cutting Rs 155, Aluminium wire scrap Rs 157 and Aluminium utensils scrap Rs 154.
