Expressing anguish over the death of Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh after he was brutally attacked in a Pakistan jail, BJP vice-president Uma Bharti today said that India's fight against the neighbouring country should be at a political level alone.
"The whole country is shocked over the death of Sarabjit after he was attacked in a Pakistan jail. It is sad to see the way Sarabjit sacrificed his life for the nation," she told reporters.
Bharti, however, said Pakistani prisoners in India should not become a target after the Sarabjit incident. "Government should ensure safety and security of Pakistani prisoners in Indian jails. Even after the death of Sarabjit, steps must be taken towards their safety," Bharti said.

"Fight against Pakistan should be fought at the political level alone... Pakistan will continue to behave in this manner and it is foolish to believe that it would ever go soft towards India," she added.
On the Lok Sabha elections, Bharti said she would contest the upcoming polls from one of the four constituencies in Uttar Pradesh, including Amroha and Unnao. "Since I live in New Delhi, I want to contest from a constituency which is close to the national capital," she added.
The former Madhya Pradesh chief minister said she had discussed the issue with the BJP chief.
