Couple posing as doctors arrested

A couple, posing as doctors, has been arrested today for allegedly possessing equipments used for abortion and illegal medicines worth lakhs of rupees.

On a tip-off, a team of doctors lead by Sirsa Civil Surgeon Dr Surender Nain conducted a raid at their clinic following which they have been arrested, police said.

The room where illegal medicines were stored has been sealed, they said.

The accused have been identified as Pushpa Rani and her husband Mehar Singh. They do not posses any medical degree, police said.

The medicines seized included some which had salt used for abortion, they said.

The couple has been arrested and a case registered against them under the Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act and Indian Medical Council Act.
 

The Drug Controller has been directed to take further necessary action after checking the medicines, police said.
