The Police today arrested a person, allegedly involved in several heinous crimes, after an encounter at Bada Dhanagada jungle under Sorada police station limits in Odisha's Ganjam district.
A loaded revolver was recovered from him, the police said adding, Baya Gouda (25) of Kesarapalli village in the district was admitted to the hospital at Sorada, as he sustained bullet injury in his right leg during the exchange of fire.
His condition was stated to be stable, they said.

"Gouda was involved in at least ten heinous crimes including murder, extortion, attempt to murder and kidnapping and was trying to escape by firing on the police party in the jungle. The Police, however, caught him after an exchange of fire," said SP (Ganjam) Narsigh Bhol.
No police personnel was injured in the encounter, he said.
Earlier Gouda was arrested in a murder case in 2013 and on charge of kidnapping a person from an election meeting of Sorada MLA Purna Chandra Swain just before the last state Assembly elections. He was also involved in attack of a school headmaster in the area.
In a recent incident, the police said he had attacked a person in his village and demanded Rs one lakh from him.
