A 15-year-old boy was killed by a crocodile here, the second such incident in the city in a week.

Arvind Sharma was dragged by the crocodile into river Vishwamitri near Maretha village on the outskirt of the city yesterday, his father said.

Ishwarbhai Sharma, father of the deceased, said " I saw my son dragged and mauled by a crocodile into the river."

Arvind, who was on a bicycle, was crossing a small bridge made of wooden planks on the river when he lost his balance after spotting a crocodile in waters below.

The teenager, a Class 8 student, slipped from the bridge and fell into the river, where the reptile pounced on him and killed him, Ishwarbhai said.

On April 13, a crocodile had killed a 65-year-old woman, Savitaben Shanabhai Gohil, in a pond in Asoj village on the city's outskirts.
