Curfew continued to remain in force in Rajouri town for the fifth consecutive day today with the authorities giving a 7-hour relaxation but reimposed the curfew in view of protests.

Curfew is in place in Rajouri town after relaxation of 7 hours today, a police official said, adding there was no untoward incident reported from anywhere.

However, there were protests insome areas following which curfew was reimposed this evening, he said.

Curfew was imposed in Rajouri town of the district on September 14 after members of two communities indulged in stone-pelting following rumours of an alleged sacrilegious act.

Two government employees were suspended on Friday for their alleged involvement in communal tension in Rajouri, following incidents of stone-pelting and arson.

"We have suspended two government employees in connection with their involvement in communal tension in Rajouri district," Rajouri Deputy Commissioner, Shabir Ahmed Bhat said.

Those suspended are Naib Tehsildar Khurshid Tantrey and Zonal Physical Education Officer Pervez Sikander.
