Security has been beefed up in Himachal Pradesh and an alert sounded following the terrorist attack at an army base in north Kashmir's Uri town in the wee hours today, killing 17 jawans and injuring several others.
Vigil has been stepped up at interstate borders and vital installations are being heavily guarded and all SPs have been asked to step up the vigil, especially in public places, DGP (law and order) Z H Zaidi said.
He said security has been beefed up at sensitive and vulnerable locations.
Patrolling has been intensified, intelligence and surveillance has been increased and sensitive routes have been plugged, he added.
