Das terms opposition bandh as "failure"

Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das termed the opposition-sponsored statewide bandh today as a "failure" as the people made it clear that they favoured the amendment to the Chhotanagpur Tenancy Act (CNT) and Santhal Pargana Tenancy Act (SPT).

Describing the opposition bandh as an "irresponsible" act, an official release quoting Das said even the Jharkhand High Court had expressed its "dissatisfaction" at the bandh.

The chief minister said the amendment was in the interest of the tribals.

Das said those who had taken law in their hands during the shutdown would be punished.

The opposition observed bandh in protest against the passing of the amendment by the assembly.
