Carcass of a deer was found at Goaltore in West Midnapore district today, a forest official said.
The deer, which must have strayed from nearby bushes, was found lying on the roadside of the forested village, the official said.
The deer was believed to have died after the fencing rope of a mustard field accidentally got entangled round its neck when it tried to cross over to the field to eat mustard flower.
