DMK today urged the Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu to take action to stop alleged illegal deletions and additions in the State electoral rolls.

DMK alleged that the state government officials deputed for authenticating and linking Aadhaar with electoral rolls under the National Electoral Roll Purification and Authentication Programme are misusing their position to help the ruling AIADMK.

"They have an illegal object of deleting DMK voters and simultaneously including names of AIADMK supporters with double entries or any other mode," Organisation Secretary, DMK, R S Bharathi, said in a petition to Chief Electoral Officer, Sandeep Saxena.

He wanted the CEC to "prevent the illegalities" forthwith. "Officials who indulge in such illegalities should be severely dealt with law," he said.

"Conduct enquiry and take action without giving any room for further allegations or complaints in this regard," he said.
