Dowry demand: Sixteen persons booked in two cases

A total of 16 persons have been booked in two different cases of dowry harassment in Faridabad district, police said today.

In the first case, Sangeeta, a resident of Azad Nagar in Ballabgarh, has lodged a complaint against her husband Hemant Kumar, father-in-law Momraj, brothers-in-law Jaiprakash and Surendra, sisters-in-law Usha and Omwati and Omwati's husband Budhprakash for demanding Rs 50,000 and a motorcycle and giving her death threats, police said.

Sangeeta and Hemant, a resident of Delhi, got married in 2001.

In the second case, Sonia, a resident of Bheem Basti in Old Faridabad, has lodged a complaint against her husband Harikishan, father-in-law Balwant, brothers-in-law Vinod, Harvinder, Ramesh and Bijendra, sisters-in-law Kavita, Sushila and Sheela for allegedly demanding dowry and giving death threats to her, police said.
