Drug abuse is part of the larger design of narco-terrorism initiated by Pakistan, a top narcotics official said here today.

"Drug abuse is part of the larger design of narco-terrorism initiated by the neighboring country who cannot subdue us with military might and therefore is trying to pump in drugs to destroy the generations," Dr Rohit Sharma, Director (Delhi Zone), Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), said.

He was speaking on the occasion of International Youth Day celebrations at Amity University here.

The Delhi Zone unit of NCB organised an awareness programme against drugs abuse for students at the university wherein Dr Sharma highlighted the medical, psychological and social impact of consuming drugs.

Warning about the addictive effects of drugs, he appealed to the students to desist from the temptation of giving it a try for once only.

The under-work or over-work of organs caused by using drugs are degenerative and damaging, he said, adding that in men the long term use of drugs could lead to sexual impotency and even loss of libido.

Dr Sharma was felicitated by Prof Nilendra Kumar, Director, Amity Law School, Noida.
