A college student was killed and four others were injured as a truck driver knocked them down in three nearby spots allegedly in an inebriated condition in Assam's Jorhat district this evening, police sources said.
First year college student Susmita Seal (17) died on the spot and her aunt Baby Dey was seriously injured when the speeding truck hit them as they were way back from Lichubari market besides Na-Ali road connecting Jorhat-Golaghat-Dimapur, the sources said.
After hitting them the truck hit a motor-cyclist identified as Nirmal Ghose and injured him before ramming into a parked car leaving its driver, Brojen Tanti, injured, the said.

As the truck driver tried to flee, the sources said, he hit another motorcyclist Tilak Saikia, a retired police official, on the same road and his vehicle got stuck against a wayside tree after hitting it.
All the injured were admitted to the Jorhat Medical College Hospital (JMCH).
Local people damaged the truck.
The mob also blocked Na-Ali road for several hours by burning tyres.
