An NGO here has launched a first-of- its-kind Durga Puja guide in Braille to help the visually challenged persons to experience the annual grand festivities to the fullest.
The guide was launched by National Institute of Professionals (NIP). The NGO will also be launching a Durga Puja guide for other differently-abled persons and senior citizens, NIP officials said.
The guide will contain list of 200 puja committees which have assured to arrange barrier free access for differently-abled persons and senior citizens.
NIP also announced 'Differently Abled and Senior Citizen Friendly Durgotsab Awards' for the year 2013.
NIP will also examine the facilities the puja organisers will provide to the physically-challenged persons.
The basic requirement includes volunteers to help the physically-challenged visitors, and facility of wheelchairs and ramps at the entry and exit points.
