Former Odisha DGP Sanjeev Marik today deposed before a sub-divisional judicial magistrate's court here in connection with a criminal defamation suit filed by him against former MP Anadi Sahu.
Marik recorded his statement for about 30 minutes clarifying why he filed the defamation case against Sahu, who was also a retired IPS officer.
He said Sahu's statement in the media has hurt him mentally and affected his standing in the society.

Marik had on March 4 filed the civil defamation suit for Rs 50 lakh against Sahu who had alleged that the former DGP had links with gangster brothers Sushil and Sushant Dhalasamanta who were arrested recently.
The court also issued summons to former MP and ex-IGP Sahu to depose before it on April 5 in connection with the case.
