Ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh announced for mishap victims

Andhra Pradesh Home Minister N Chinnarajappa announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh today, each to the five victims who died in a van which overturned in Ramapachodavaram division of East Godavari district.

"Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the five victims who lost their lives in a van mishap in Rampachodavaram division of East Godavari district yesterday," he said.

Chinnarajappa, along with AP Social Welfare Minister R Kishore Babu visited the hospital where injured people are undergoing treatment and consoled family members of those killed.

He said that the van was overcrowded with 100 members, which was above its capacity.
 

Five people died, while 86 others including children were injured in the accident.

Those injured were rushed to four hospitals in Rajahmundry and Kakinada.

The incident occurred yesterday at Rampachodavaram division after a van carrying a marriage party was on its way back.
