Former Haryana minister Nirmal Singh and six others have been booked here today for allegedly preventing government officials from discharging their duty.
The former minister accompanied by Omkar Singh, chief of INLD district (Urban) unit and their supporters sat on dharna along with shopkeepers in front of Hanuman market at Ambala Cantonment yesterday where civic body officials had come to remove encroachment of shops on a court order, police said.
This forced the anti-encroachment squad led by Commissioner of Ambala Municipal Corporation to return without removing the encroachment.
Following this a case was registered against Nirmal Singh, Omkar Singh and five other, police added.
