Ex-Vizag civic corporator held for land grabbing

A former corporator of Greater Visakha Municipal Corporation was arrested today on charges of trespassing and grabbing government land totalling around five acres.

Pothina Hanumantha Rao (42) was apprehended along with three others, said DCP (Law and Order, Zone-I) CM Thrivikrama Varma on the complaint of Mandal Revenue Officer of Visakha Rural, L Sudhakar Naidu.

Rao and others had levelled 4.93 acres of land and planted coconut and mango saplings on it, he said, adding they also set up boards claiming the site belongs to them.

Rao's accomplices are yet to be arrested.
