A worker of a cement factory at Ghanauli near here was killed after he was electrocuted while working on a machine, police said today.

The deceased, Prem Pal, son of Lal Ban Dass, resident of Badaun district in Uttar Pradesh, was working with a machine yesterday when he was electrocuted to death.

The workers of the Ambuja Cement factory struck work and demanded a compensation of Rs 25 lakhs for the family of the deceased.

The workers alleged that no safety norms were adopted by the management and they demanded transfer of the company's Vice-President Rajesh Sondhi.

Meanwhile, Civil Engineer of Ambuja plant Ajay Vashisht said the machine on which Prem Pal was working was not faulty. The machine is sent for examination, he added.

However, police have registered a case in this connection.
