Four months after the demise of a labourer who was working on a government project here, the Labour department has given a compensation of Rs 7.4 lakh to his family members.
On 12 February, while laying down pipelines to supply portable water as part of the Gangajal Project, a mound of soil fell on labourer Biri Singh which killed him, Assistant Labour Commissioner A.K. Singh said.
Yesterday, his family was given a check of Rs 7,42,014 and FD, he said.
The Gangajal Project is a Uttar Pradesh government undertaking.
