A 45-year-old farmer was allegedly shot at by an absconding criminal accompanied by two associated over old enmity at Datyana village in Chapar police station here, police said today.

The key culprit, Ruchin, is carrying cash reward of Rs 12,000 on his head, they said.

The victim, Surendra Singh, was shot at last evening when he was working in his fields by the three miscreants over old enmity, they said.

He was rushed to a hospital where his condition is stated to be stable, they said.

His family members complained that the accused shot at Surendra as he has refused to withdraw the case of his father's murder, they said.

Karan Singh, Surendra's father, was murdered in 2013 and a case was pending in court. The accused Ruchin's two brothers are lodged in jail in the same case while he is absconding, they said.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, an unidentified body of a 25-year-old man was yesterday found near Panchenda road near here, police said.

Salfas tablets were recovered from his pocket, they said, adding that it is suspected that youth had committed suicide.

The body has been sent for postmortem and an investigation is underway in this connection, they added.
