Court awards life sentence to 5 in murder case

A local court today sentenced five persons, including three women, to life imprisonment in connection with the murder of a man in Jehanabad district of Bihar in 2001.

Additional District Judge (II) Gopal Prasad awarded life sentence to Binay Bind, Anuj Bind, Gyanti Devi, Nagwati Devi and Sonaria Devi who were convicted of murdering one Vishambhar Bind on March 12, 2001.

The judge also awarded an additional five-year term to Binay under Arms Act and imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on him for being the key person in the murder.

Vishambhar, a resident of Gagankura village under Sakura police station, was shot dead in his house.
 

His son Laldeo Prasad had lodged an FIR against the five stating that they entered his house, overpowered his father and killed him.
