Father-daughter duo attacked with acid

A 55-year-old man and his daughter were allegedly attacked with acid by the woman's in-laws in the district.

Rahees Ahmad and his daughter Gulshan (30) sustained burn injuries when they came under an acid attack near Sikreda village in the district last evening, police said.

The father-daughter duo was allegedly attacked by the in-laws of Gulshan, who had filed a dowry harassment case against them, they said.

Both the parties were returning from a court hearing regarding the case, and heading to Kawal village, when the attack took place.

The injured have been admitted to a hospital, police said.

According to Gulshan, her husband Satbir and his parents had been pressurising her to withdraw the case.
 

The woman has since been living with her father, police added.
