Fire officer, his aide arrested in bribery case

Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) today arrested a fire officer of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) along with his aide for accepting a bribe of Rs 35,000, an official said.

The accused, identified as M Srihari Jagannath, had demanded the bribe for issuing a no-objection certificate to the management of a private English medium school in Sheelanagar here.

DSP (Visakha Urban) of ACB, K Ramakrishna Prasad said that based on the complaint from the school management, the ACB team laid a trap and caught the fire officer while accepting the bribe through a private person named Taraka Ramakrishna.

Both of them will be produced before the special ACB court on Friday, the official said.
