Five arrested in Jammu for drug peddling

Five persons were arrested in Jammu today after drugs worth lakhs of rupees were seized from their possession.

Lakhsmi Kumar Tandon, from Chhattisgarh, was arrested and 3.5 kg of cannabis was seized from him in a checking drive at Trikuta Nagar here, police said.

Tandon was arrested under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

In the second incident, three youths were arrested with 25 grams of heroin in a vehicle checking drive at Sunjwan-Bathindiroad, a police officer said, adding a case has been registered against Rameem Ahmed Malik, Mukhtiar Ali and Altaaf Hussain.

In the third incident, Mohinder Singh was arrested by police in Bour camp with 2 kg of poppy and a case registered against him, the officer said.
 

Meanwhile, police arrested Mohammed Sarif with 38 pouches of illicit liquor from Reasi district's bus stand area.
