Five arrested with firearms

Five persons were today arrested and firearms were recovered from them in Mongalkote area in Burdwan district, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, police reached at Kowarpur village and with the help of villagers blocked the main road with a tractor trolley to stop the car and arrested the miscreants, the police said.

Police reached Kowarpur from Mongalkote police station after getting information that the miscreants would pass in a red car through the village.

Six firearms were seized from their possession, they said.
