Fog affects normal life in Punjab, Haryana

A thick blanket of fog early today reduced visibility levels at several places in Punjab and Haryana, affecting normal life.

"Dense fog prevailed at most places in Punjab and Haryana," a MeT Department official said.

Vehicular traffic was affected due to foggy weather at several places in the two states.

Meanwhile, the minimum temperature continued to hover above normal at most places in the two states.

Chandigarh recorded a low of 9.5 deg C, three notches above normal, a MeT Department official said here.

In Haryana, Ambala recorded a low of 10.1 deg C, three notches above normal, while in Hisar the minimum temperature settled at 7.5 deg C.
 

Karnal recorded a low of 8 deg C, a notch above normal for this time of the season.

Amritsar in Punjab registered a low of 6.9 deg C, up three notches from normal.

Ludhiana recorded a minimum temperature of 8.2 deg C, two notches above normal while Patiala registered a low of 9.7 deg C, two degrees above normal.

However, Bathinda had a cold night at 6.1 deg C while Pathankot's minimum temperature settled at 9 deg C, which was within the normal range.
