The maximum temperatures today soared by few notches above normal level at most places in Punjab and Haryana.
Chandigarh, the joint capital of the twin states, recorded a maximum temperature of 35.5 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal, the MeT department report said.
In Haryana, Ambala recorded a high of 35.7 degrees Celsius, up by two notches, while Hisar and Narnaul's maximum settled at 36.5 degrees Celsius and 35.5 degrees Celsius respectively.

In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a high of 35.2 degrees Celsius, while Ludhiana and Patiala registered their maximum at 33.9 degrees Celsius and 35.2 degrees Celsius respectively, two notches above normal.
Weather is likely to remain dry in Haryana, while light to moderate rain may occur at isolated places in Punjab tomorrow.
