'Following Sikh gurus' steps in building egalitarian society'

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today said the SAD-BJP alliance government was following the foot steps of the great Sikh gurus, who have given the message of communal harmony and an egalitarian society with pure secular character.

"It is a fact that the SAD-BJP alliance government was following the footsteps of the great Sikh Gurus who have taught them the message of communal harmony, love, brotherhood, peace and above all of egalitarian society with pure secular character," he said.

The chief minister reiterated the commitment of the state government to develop Qadian town here as a "model city".

"The work of beautification of this city, especially area around the headquarters of 'Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya', will be completed before the 125th annual Jalsa of Jamaat in 2016," he said.
 

Interacting with the leaders of Ahmediyya community in Qadian here today, Badal said that as devotees from across the globe converge here at this historic place every year, so it was the duty of the state government to develop this place.

He said the work of beautification of this town was going on in full swing and would be completed shortly.

Badal also asked the officers to ensure that work of sewerage, street lights, roads, water supply and other basic civic amenities in this city were executed in time so as to give a face lift to this city.

Conceding to the demand of the Ahmediyya Jamaat, the chief minister also asked the officers to explore alternate site for disposal of waste in the city.

Badal said that if required the state government would bear the expenses of purchasing alternate chunk of land in the vicinity of town.

Earlier, Ahmediyya community leaders thanked the chief minister for fulfilling the promise of covering the nullah flowing from the centre of city.
