The SAD-BJP combine would again form government in Punjab after 2017 assembly polls, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today said exhuding confidence in the "unprecedented" development work carried out by the alliance.
Badal said people of Punjab have time and again reposed faith in the "people-friendly" and "development-oriented policies" of the SAD-BJP alliance.
"Owing to unprecedented development of the state and major initiatives for well being of all the sections of society, the alliance will come back to power after the assembly elections slated to be held in 2017.
"There is hardly any doubt that people of state will elect the alliance government for third consecutive term after these polls," Badal said on the sidelines of Sangat Darshan programme in Khadoor Sahib assembly segment here today.
The five-time CM also advised newly appointed state Congress chief Amarinder Singh to shun the "politics of confrontation".
"People of Punjab have rejected the political approach of the Amritsar MP twice in 2007 and 2012," he said, asking the former Chief Minister to "learn lessons" from his trounce in yesteryears and resort to politics of consensus both within his party and outside.
"Captain was rejected because of vendetta politics pursued by him whereas people like us because we do not believe in this type of politics," said Badal.
Listing out government initiatives, Badal said the state has begun a massive drive to fill 1.13 lakh vacant posts in various departments, adding that the process to fill these posts would be completed very soon.
He said the recruitment will be done in a fully transparent and fool-proof manner so as to ensure that only the eligible and deserving candidates were selected for these posts, purely on merit.
Likewise, Badal said the departments have been asked to ensure that the recruitment drive was completed shortly so that deserving youth could be enrolled in the state government.
The Chief Minister said the SAD-BJP alliance government
has embarked upon a major scheme to give facelift to the state, for which Rs 25 crore per assembly has been earmarked.
He further said that in a major step aimed at providing world class civic amenities to residents of the cities across the state, Punjab government has initiated a major scheme for providing the facility of water supply, sewerage, sewerage treatment plants, streetlights, roads and parks in all the towns of the state.
It was to refurbish the cities with the state-of-the art facilities so that the residents could be benefitted from it on one hand and giving impetus to the overall development of the state on the other, he said.
Earlier addressing the gathering in village Pandori Gola Ki, Kadd Gill, Baagrian and Pakhoke, the Chief Minister said Sangat Darshan was a flagship programme of the SAD-BJP alliance, which was very helpful in ensuring on the spot redressal of the grievances of the people.
He said these programmes were also helpful to the state government for judging the performance of the officers, officials of the state government.
The sole aim of organising these programmes was to give impetus to the development in the state and they didn't have any political motive, Badal said.
Highlighting the significance of these programs, the Chief Minister said Sangat Darshan was held only in Punjab and that too during alliance government's rule.
