Former Maoist cadre among two held in ATM loot case

An ex-Maoist and another person were today arrested from different villages in Bihar's Jehanabad district in connection with the loot case of an ATM two months ago, a police officer said.

Carrying out a probe into the loot of Rs 11 lakh from the SBI ATM at Hati Bazar under Kako police station area on January 8 last, the police identified one Rajesh Kumar on the basis of CCTV recording and arrested him from his house in Odan Bigaha village, while his accomplice Rajeshwar Kewat, an ex-Maoist, was nabbed from Mallchak village under Ulalganj police station area, Superintendent of Police (SP) Aditya Kumar said.
 

Kewat used to work for a Maoist outfit before taking to robbery and other criminal activities, he said.

The cops seized Rs 12,000 cash, six cheque books of different banks, papers related to landed property and life insurance policies, besides two mobile phones and a Bolero SUV, Kumar said.

The SP said raids were being carried out to nab six other robbers.
