After a four year stint as Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Tamil Nadu, Praveen Kumar was today appointed as the Principal Secretary and Commissioner of Technical Education by the State government.
Under his stewardship, the 2011 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections and the 2014 Lok Sabha polls were conducted in the State.
Known for his administrative capabilities, he was appointed as a special observer by the Election Commission for Varanasi Parliamentary constituency from where Prime Minister Narendra Modi contested successfully.
In a Government Order, Chief Secretary Mohan Verghese Chunkath said Praveen Kumar would replace Kumar Jayant as Principal Secretary and Commissioner of Technical Education.
Kumar Jayant has been posted as Secretary to government in the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Department.
Rajesh Lakhoni, Secretary, MSME Department will take over as Agricultural Production Commissioner and Secretary to Government, Agriculture Department.
Sandeep Saxena, appointed as Chief Electoral Officer yesterday was earlier the Agricultural Production Commissioner.
