Moderate polling of 37 per cent was recorded till 1 PM in Gujarat where voting is underway for 26 Lok Sabha constituencies, even as Narendra Modi's home turf Vadodara witnessed the highest turnout of 50.46 per cent.
"Till 1 PM, voting percentage was between 36-37 per cent approximately," Additional Chief Electoral Officer A H Manek said.
Even though intense heat wave hit the state, citizens showed immense fervour to caste their votes till half the day.

As per the Election Commission figures, in Vadodara constituency, where the contest is between BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and Congress leader Madhusudan Mistry, the polling figures were the highest with 50.46 per cent.
Sabarkantha Lok Sabha seat followed Vadodara and witnessed polling percentage of 45.92 till 1 PM.
Apart from these two seats, large numbers of citizens voted in Chhota Udepur (44.31 per cent), Valsad 42 per cent), Mehsana (40.51 per cent), Ahmedabad east (40.50 per cent), Gandhinagar (37.62 per cent), Banaskantha (35.71 per cent) and Kutch (33.98 per cent).
Sporadic incidents of scuffle between different party workers were reported from various parts of the state, but no major incident of violence occurred till 1 PM.
