Four arms smugglers were apprehended by troops of 26 Assam Rifles during a regular frisking of vehicles in front of Churachandpur Behiang Check Post yesterday, the police said.
One M-16 Carbine and a magazine of 5.56 mm were recovered from them.
The smugglers were coming in a vehicle when they were stopped and checked by the Assam Rifles personnel near Mizoram-Manipur interstate border, the police said.
The four persons were identified as S Khupkhansiam (52), Liannou Same (25), Sunliangthang (30) and Kapkhantup (28). They have been handed over to Singhat Police station, the police said.
