A district court here today awarded life imprisonment to four persons in connection with a 2009 murder case.

Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADJ) of Fast Track Court K K Mahtha held the four guilty of murder and sentenced them to life imprisonment.

Those who were handed out the sentence by the court were Bhukhan Mandal, Chaturanan Mandal, Gunprakash Mandal and Jai Kishore Mandal, said Additional Public Prosecutor Subodh Kumar Mishra, who argued the case before the court for the prosecution.

One Vinod Mandal was hacked to death by the four convicts on June 9, 2009 at Jhingajhal village under the Chanan police station of the district, following a quarrel over irrigating a farm land.

The deceased's father, Bholanath Mandal, had lodged an FIR against the four convicts the same day.
