Five police officials, including four from the IPS, will be awarded the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's Police Medal for Meritorious Public Service and nine other police personnel will be given awards for Excellence in Investigation, the State government said today.
IPS officers Additional Director General of Police, JK Tripathi, IGP (North Zone), NK Senthamarai Kannan, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Thanjavur Range), T Senthil Kumar, Police Superintendent (Tiruvarur District) N M Mayilvahanan were named for the CM's Police Medal for Meritorious Public Service.
Also, Police Deputy Superintendent (Thanjavur District), C Baskar will also get the award for meritorious public service.

Announcing the awards on Independence Day eve here, a Home Department release here said nine other officials, including Additional Police Superintendent, S Aravind, Deputy Superintendents, N Silambarasan (Villupuram District), M Vivekanandan (Tirupur District), and M Somasundaram (Salem) will be given the Chief Minister's Police Medal for Excellence in Investigation.
The awardees will get the medals in eight gram gold and Rs 5,000 at a function to be presided over by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, the release said.
