The commission, that learnt about the incident through media reports, said officials of a private bank along with the police personnel brutally attacked a farmer who was unable to pay the extra interest of Rs.1,34,000 on the loan of Rs. 3,80,000.

According to the commission, the torture and brutal attack on the person is a serious violation of human rights.

"Though, it approves the realization of debt through lawful means but totally disapproves the forcible recovery by torturing farmers.
