Four persons were killed and eight seriously injured when the jeep in which they were travelling hit a tree on the Bargarh-Boriguma national highway, police said today.
The mishap occurred when 12 persons from Chiplima in adjoining Sambalpur district were returning home after witnessing "Sital Sashti" festival at Barpali in Bargarh district, sub-divisional police officer (SDPO), Bargarh, N C Dandasena said.
Three occupants of the jeep died on the spot while another succumbed to serious injuries at the hospital. All the injured were being treated at the VSS Medical College Hospital at Burla, he said.
