Gang of highway robbers busted in Ghaziabad; 10 nabbed

With the arrest of 10 persons from Muradnagar area here, police today claimed to have busted a gang of robbers targeting trucks on national highways across the district.

A looted truck, three stolen motorcycles, four country-made pistols and four live cartridges were seized from their possession, a senior police official said.

The accused have been identified as Kamal, Ankit, Sanjay, Dinesh, Jagat, Ram Prakash, Pappu, Chand Khan, Sameer and Saleem.

"Police got information that some truck robbers were coming towards Duhai-Sadarpur Road in Muradnagar area last night. A trap was laid and all 10 accused were arrested," said the official.
 

Jagat was the leader of the gang.

The official said the accused told the police that they used to rob trucks on NH-58 and other highways at gunpoint.

On the night of February 24, they allegedly robbed a truck driver of his vehicle at gunpoint.

The accused are being questioned about their accomplices, who would be arrested soon, the official added.
