Realty firm Gaursons today said the company has forayed into the education sector and will open a school in its upcoming township at Noida Extension with an investment of about Rs 80 crore.

The company plans to open at least two more schools in its other townships at Noida Extension and Yamuna Expressway, both part of Greater Noida.

"We are entering into the education sector by opening up our first school from next session starting April 2015. The school will be spread over 5.5 acres and is part of our township 'Gaur City-2'," Gaursons India Ltd Managing Director Manoj Gaur told reporters.

The total investment for opening 'Gaur International School' is Rs 70-80 crore, he said.

The school will be CBSE affiliated and admission process will start from tomorrow, Gaur said.

"We are developing more than 25,000 housing units in Noida Extension. We have started handing over the units and about 9,000 flats would be delivered in next 6 months," Gaur said.

Stating that the company intends to provide all basic facilities in its township, Gaur said the company has decided to open the school to cater the requirement of its flat owners and adjoining housing projects of other developers.

Gaursons is targeting about 2,000 students in the first academic session, while the total capacity of the school will go up to 5,000 students in the next few years.

In Noida Extension, Gaursons is developing a 240-acre township 'Gaur City'. About 25,000 housing units are being developed in this township at an investment of Rs 5,000 crore.

Last year, it had bought 300 acre land on Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida from Jaypee group for over Rs 1,500 crore to develop an integrated township.
