Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi visiting the SOS Children's Village near here exhorted upon the children to become good and responsible citizens contributing their might towards nation-building.
"You are our invaluable assets and on your shoulder lies the future of the country," Gogoi said wishing the children a bright future during his visit to the Village at Azara on the outskirts of the city on the occasion of Bhogali Bihu yesterday.
Gogoi lauded the good work carried out by the SOS Children's Village, Azara, in the upbringing of the children in a homely atmosphere and giving them proper education, health care and comforts of life.

The Chief Minister complimented the mothers for giving their motherly care and comfort to the orphaned and abandoned children, said an official press release.
"The tender and motherly love, care and affection you have showered on the children whom you consider to be your own have given them the much-needed impetus to flourish and reach their full potential. The way in which you all live an a close-knit family is laudable and commendable," he said.
Accompanied by his wife Dolly Gogoi he interacted with the children and exchanged pleasantries with them on the auspicious occasion of Bihu.
Gogoi gave away Assamese delicacies to the children and Mothers on the occasion of Bihu, while the children presented them mementos that included paintings much to the delight of the Chief Minister and his wife.
The Chief Minister also went around the sprawling campus of the Village and appreciated the various activities being carried out for the children's welfare, the release added.
