Customs officials today seized a gold bar weighing 1 kg from a Kerala-based man who landed from Dubai at Rajiv Gandhi international airport at Shamshabad here.

Based on the intelligence input, sleuths of Customs Air Intelligence (RGIA) intercepted P Siraju at the customs exit gate and seized the gold bar concealed in one of his socks.

Siraju arrived from an Emirates Airlines flight and was passing through the Green Channel meant for passengers who have nothing to declare, Customs officials said.

Though Siraju initially denied carrying anything declarable, his nervous behaviour gave him away.

The approximate value of the seized item is Rs 29 lakh, the officials said, adding Siraju has confessed to the offence.
