Govt employee held in bribery case

Lokayukta Police today caught red-handed an assistant of a tehsildar for taking a bribe of Rs 6,000 from a farmer in the neighbouring Dhar district.

The assistant- Ramesh Chandra Suryavanshi (59), posted in Badnawar town's tehsildar office was caught red-handed taking Rs 6,000 bribe from a farmer, Dinesh Dabi, Lokayukta DSP V S Parihar told reporters.

Only eight months were left for Suryavanshi's retirement, he said.

Parihar informed that a case related to division of ancestral land was pending in the tehsildar's court and the assistant had demanded money for a decision in Dabi's favour.

Acting on the complaint, Lokayukta police laid a trap and caught Suryavanshi red-handed.
 

A case under Prevention of Corruption Act was registered in this regard and the role of tehsildar in the matter is also being probed.
