A 38-year-old security guard was gunned down by three armed men outside his residence at Khera Dabar village in southwest Delhi's Najafgarh area.

According to police, the victim was identified as Ravindra, who worked as a security guard at a private hospital. The incident took place yesterday night at around 9 pm when Ravindra was returning home.

The assailants, who had parked their car near Ravindra's residence, fired around nine rounds on him. Hearing the gunshots, locals rushed to the spot and took him to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead. Ravindra had got four bullet shots on his chest and abdomen, police said.

The locals managed to nab one of the assailants identified as Karamveer alias Sonu (35), thrashed him and handed him over to the cops. His two accomplices, however, managed to flee from the spot.

During interrogation, Karamveer disclosed that his accomplices were Shakti and Anil alias Kalu.

While Shakti and Karamveer are from a village in Bahadurgarh, Kalu is a local from Najafgarh, who was on the run for past few months after jumping parole, said a senior police official.

Shakti had a grudge against Ravindra as his younger brother, Lagan Sharma, allegedly killed Shakti's brother, Sajjan alias Chhuri, in February 2014.

Lagan is presently lodged at a jail in Haryana. However, Shakti wanted to kill Ravindra too.

"A case has been registered and a team has been formed to nab Shakti and Kalu as soon as possible," said R A Sanjeev, Deputy Commissioner of Police (southwest).
