Har govt increases pension given to World War soldiers

Haryana government has increased the pension given to the ex-servicemen who took part in World Wars or widows of the soldiers who participated in them by 1.5 times, an official release said.

The Finance department has given approval to provide Rs 4,500 per month as pension to the soldiers who participated in WW-I and WW-II. The enhanced pension will be applicable to the widows of soldiers.

Earlier, this pension was Rs 3,000 per month, the release said here today.

This decision would cause an additional burden of Rs 8.57 crore annually on the state exchequer, it said.

Earlier the pension was increased from Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,000 per month on May 8, 2014.
