The Madras High Court today directed the CBI Joint Director to probe the inter-state offences committed by 14 'LLB Degree students' hailing from Madurai, who had enrolled themselves in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh's private law colleges and file a report.
Justice S.Nagamuthu of the Madurai Bench, hearing a petition filed by a city advocate K.Sriguru, gave the direction to CBI and posted the case for hearing on April 29.
The petitioner submitted that the 14 'LLB degree' students illegally obtained admissions in law colleges in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. He alleged that without obtaining sufficient attendance and by bribing college authorities, they were writing the examination using proxies.

Most of them did not have formal education, he claimed and alleged that they were trying to get themselves enrolled in the Bar Council after getting their degree to get a shield to protect their illegal business.
The petitioner sought a CBI probe and said the court should direct the investigating agency to produce the attendance register besides CCTV footage of colleges in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka to find if those enrolled were attending classes and writing examinations themselves.
