The Allahabad High Court today modified its order whereby entry of vehicles inside the historic Company Garden here was banned in view of the proposed visit of Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik to Allahabad Museum.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justice Dilip Gupta modified its order of September 19 and said the Governor's cavalcade be allowed to enter the Company Garden during his proposed October 21 tour.
The court had restricted entry of all types of vehicles inside the sprawling public park, spread over an area of more than 100 acres, while hearing a PIL wherein concerns were expressed over air and noise pollution at the Company Garden.

Formally known as Chandrashekhar Azad Park, named after the revolutionary freedom fighter who died in a gun-battle with British forces here, the park was earlier called Alfred Park as it had been built in the 19th century to mark the visit of Queen Victoria's son Prince Alfred to the city.
Local residents, however, continue to refer to the park as Company Garden or Company Bag, which houses a number of important institutions like Allahabad Musuem, Prayag Sangeet Samiti and Madan Mohan Malviya Stadium.
