Press Trust of India Allahabad
Allahabad High Court today sought a reply from Uttar Pradesh government whether any rule was in place to put a check on sale and purchase of acid in the state.

A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justice Dilip Gupta passed the order on a PIL filed by one Anubhav Verma, who had alleged that despite a Supreme Court direction aimed at putting a check on acid attack cases across the country, no rule has been framed in UP for curbing the sale and purchase of such substances.

The court has asked the state government to file its reply by the next date of hearing in the matter on July 24.
