West Bengal continued to reel under heatwave conditions with most places sizzling at above 40 degree Celsius today, while the Met department forecast possibility of rain and thunderstorms within a couple of days.
Bankura continued to be the hottest place in the region, recording 41.1 degrees Celsius during the day.
Kolkata sizzled at 40.1 degrees on a lazy Sunday, five degrees above normal, with people choosing to remain indoors.

Roads wore a deserted look in the metropolis with little public transport, as was the scene in other cities and towns of the region.
Asansol, Sriniketan and Burdwan recorded the day's high at 42.9 degrees C, 43.1 degrees C and 41 degrees C respectively.
The Met department has, however, forecast a much-needed respite in the perched region with possibility of moderate rain and thunderstorm on Tuesday.
